I keep catching up on presents… I wanted to give this one its own post because it’s just so very special.
My mom’s present to me was a little late because it came from Ukraine. I’d shown my mom this mug I saw on Etsy not expecting her to buy it, because it was like SIXTY dollars since it’s meticulously handmade, an OOAK item, and certainly worth it, but still… well over $50 for a MUG! And my mom works so hard for her money, doesn’t make much in the first place, if I could have guessed she would have gone and bought it I might not have shown her, because it’s just so much money, I feel kinda bad… but it’s wonderful, it’s such a treasure:
The mug shows a beautifully sculpted Helix Pomatia on a leaf, including water droplets. The detail is exquisite. It’s far too beautiful to use, so it will be carefully displayed on my library desk shelf. Already, I’ve been admiring it as I work. It just makes me smile every time and once we have visits again I know it’s something I’ll enjoy showing off.
I just can’t help but think about the hours of work this mug cost my mom… 😓 but, I will definitely treasure it as long as I live. 🐌 💕💕💕
Today was a really good day. I did all my chores, worked on my books, worked on commissions and personal art, sorted a lot of email. One of my new Charlie Bears came (photos tomorrow) as well as my new Beany Boo camel, whom I’ve named Falafel.
I’ll have better photos of Falafel tomorrow as well to explain why he is special enough to add to my hug. For now, have the photos from our date night!
We had ramen, played a couple rounds of KingDomino, and watched a little TV. It was a really happy, cozy time.
Christopher won every round, but it was still a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll do better next time! 😬💧
I almost forgot to post this lovely birthday drawing that the adorable Kipaki made for me! I love it so much! Kipa followed my character’s proportions to a T which almost never happens when I’m drawn, and is actually really important to me (two and a half heads, she has a really big head too). Not a must, it’s not like it ruins art for me if it’s not done, but it gives me unmitigated joy to see her drawn this way. Thank you, Kipa! 🌈✨
