I’m catching up on blogging about Code: Realize ~Guardian Of Rebirth~ routes that I’ve done so far. I worked on commissions a fair bit while I was gone. While my iPad charged in between sessions, I gamed. ^_^
My route of choice after getting Van Helsing’s good end was Impey Barbicane’s.

Impey really did not appeal to me upon first impression. He’s very goofy and very forward. He’s funny, but he certainly didn’t give me butterflies:
Still, Impey was the route I’d decided to do next, and Victor is SO DAMN BLAND. So…
Impey is a gentleman in his advances (for him) but definitely forward. He takes your repeated rejections on the chin, though (or pretends they didn’t happen, but does back off.)
I’m helplessly into characters who scold me for any reason, but Impey is so shy about it, that I seriously melted. I love him already.
He’s just so damn nice. None of the other characters really treat you quite like this. And yet, he doesn’t come across as a doormat, but he just really, really wants you to be happy so badly. He’s so confident.
There are little moments where his usual countenance goofy slightly cracks. And you do realize he has a serious side that carries a good amount of pain. But even then, he doesn’t stay serious for long. These moments greatly add to his character.
On that note, I will say that while it didn’t carry particular weight or significance to the rest of the route, and in spite of Impey’s pointy fangs, I did not see this twist coming AT ALL:
With that said, vampires are… odd, in this game. They must drink blood, they do have the fangs. But they seem to only breed with other vampires. They seem able to peacefully coexist with humans. You never see Delly or Impey drink blood (in fact, they eat normal food.) They seem able to stroll about in the daytime no problem. I’ve seen no particular vampire-like quality other than super strength and vampire fangs. Okay.
I had this post in my draft for three days. Since then, I’ve finally finished this route, so both posts will be published consecutively. 🙂
