Good morning everyone. I didn’t oversleep today! I was up and out by around 6:30am. I actually woke up around 5:30am… I could have gotten up, but it seemed a bad idea when I’m pushing myself so far with the hours of walking and not too much eating. 😅
Having left earlier, I was able to get some sunrise photos…
Even by this point it was hot and humid. I can tell it’s going to be a scorcher… hopefully the evening cools down slightly, as I’d like to do an evening walk as well.
Today when I walked past the owl nest (remember, I’m always on the sidewalk) two of them (I’m guessing the two chicks) were playfully going at each other, and flying about. When I began to walk past they quickly hid, but the others stayed outside.
Today would be a special day, however. An owl was perching on the pipe that stands right by the sidewalk. I cannot believe I was able to be so close. These photos are still very zoomed in, but obviously not as much as usual. I wasn’t in touching distance of the little owl, but not far from.
Just like a little sentinel, he kept looking this way and that.
These three videos I’m going to share below are very short and samey, but I don’t expect I’ll have many chances of capturing a burrowing owl so close. So I want to share them all. Here’s the first:

Last one. At this point I felt I was bothering the little guy even if I was on the sidewalk so I left him be.
In other news, yesterday ended in great annoyance as I seem to have lost my Apple headphones. 😤 They are the cheap ones with a lightning port that used to come with the iPhone, but I loved them, and hate, hate that I’ve lost them. Thankfully Amazon had them for 57% off, so it wasn’t too bad and I should have a new pair tomorrow.
Anyway what’s in the cards today… gotta finish a commission AND the warm-up, and start work on my current trade with MinetteFraise, install some new brushes, medicate and feed/water the cats, look after the snails, and, well, all my other chores. Tonight I want to surprise Christopher with a special meal –and take another walk too. I guess I better get to it!
