Date Night Means LEGO! ๐ŸŒน

Christopher is building the Galaxy Explorer. It is a really awesome and complex build, especially for the price. We recommend it!

Here are some photos of the build in progress:

Meanwhile Iโ€™m building the little LEGO store. Sooo many stickers ๐Ÿ˜ญ but itโ€™s very cute and detailed!

It’s an even more fun build than I anticipated. I couldn’t finish it in a single sitting.

Meet Igloo! ๐ŸงŠ๐ŸŽ€

Today’s been a really happy day! Last month our partner asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Well I knew I wanted a Charlie Bear from him… I have a couple of stuffies that he’s gotten for me and I really treasure them, but I wanted very badly to have one of my precious, fancy teddies that was from him. So I picked Derek, which I believe is a 2022 Charlie Bear.

It ended up being one of my biggest Charlie Bear disappointments. No charm, and actually sloppy quality, kind of a shock for a Charlie Bear. Maybe they switched manufacturers. I didn’t know what to do because I wanted to just be happy about my new bear and not make any fuss to our partner or appear ungrateful, but this bear cost over $100. ๐Ÿ˜ž I wanted to love it.

So eventually I decided to go through the return process, and Charlie Bears USA was really sucky with that. Which is also strange for them. Communication sucked, I actually had to contact Charlie Bears UK to get them to make Charlie Bears USA reply to me. The entire process took a long time.

Anyway once the refund was confirmed I’d picked a new bear (Daria) crossed my fingers, and waited. Today she arrived, and it was such a relief to see that she has the old Charlie Bear charm!

I named her Igloo, and she is my first polar bear. I feel like she looks even cuter without clothes, but without an outfit she is just another bear from the shop. When she is dressed, she is my bear:

She’s so cute, and soft, and has some weight to her, and a jingly bell collar. I am very pleased. Here she is keeping me company while we enjoy date night. We were playing Quoridor at the time.

Speaking of, for date night we also opened the T. rex Breakout LEGO set, and have been having a lot of fun with it (it’s not finished yet) but I bet we’ll continue working on it this weekend and I’ll take photos then.

Breakfast Out + Date Night! ๐Ÿฅ‘๐ŸŒˆ

Mwako had to leave today. ๐Ÿ˜” But before he did, we got to have one nice little goodbye breakfast together! ๐ŸŒป Then I was able to catch up on some housework, and in the late afternoon, Christopher and I played with LEGO again. It’s a really nice date night activity, and our partner even joined in for a little while after his nap. ๐Ÿฅฐ

๐ŸŒž First Watch Breakfast ๐ŸŒž

I had never been to First Watch before! I wish we knew of it sooner. We really miss Metro Diner (ours shut down to become a funeral home, of all things) and this seems to be practically the same restaurant. Very similar menu and atmosphere. I can’t wait to have a little morning date with Christopher here.

I had avocado toast and grapefruit juice. The servings weren’t too big and the meal wasn’t otherwordly or anything, but it was good. I want to come again.

Mwako happened to snap a photo of me getting ready to snap a photo… ๐Ÿ˜„

I saw my friend off right after breakfast. Then I caught up on my blog and on my chores.

๐Ÿš‰ Date Night ๐Ÿš‰

After that came date night, and more LEGO fun was had! We put together our brand new freight train. Christopher was happier all throughout than I have seen him in a long time.

If I’d known how much he would enjoy this and how we would bond over it, I would have made it a priority in our lives and entertainment budget ages ago. I feel a bit sad in that regard over the lost time, but at least we can make up for it now.

Excited for the first test run!! ๐Ÿš…

It’s really powerful and fast! ๐Ÿคฏ

Here our partner took the controller. The scream is him. That, my friends, is the soundtrack of our lives, every day (and neither my husband nor I could live without it).

After this, they opened a pack of glow sticks that Mwako got for me as a little surprise and began to have fun with themโ€ฆ

I had to admit it looked pretty neat!

All in all it was a really wonderful day. I’m looking forward to having more fun this weekend!

Pokรฉmon Labyrinth!

Tonight for date night we played the Pokรฉmon version of Labyrinth! Excuse the doofus eating peanut M&Mโ€™s off the table pleaseโ€ฆ ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Here’s some close-up shots. As always with Ravensburger games and puzzles, the quality is amazing!

It was our first time playing this game. More challenging than I expected! I can’t wait to play it again.

Board Games, Ramen And a Movie! ๐Ÿœ๐ŸŽฅโœจ

Yesterday was date night! When Christopher got home, first he and I spent some time playing board games together while our partner was still busy working. We played Battleship first and Christopher won –twice!

Then we played Quoridor which was a birthday present he got from my sis-in-law. It’s a very simple game. But fun!

Cilantro threatening Christopher’s meeple ๐Ÿ˜

This time, I won! ๐Ÿฅณ

After board games we went to Sakura Ramen for dinner, where we had our usual pork bao bun appetizer, and of course, ramen!

Then it was back home to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once together. We went to bed late, but happy.

Jurassic World Dominion Night + Thoughts On Film! ๐Ÿฆ–๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿฟ

Tonight we went to Cinรฉbistro on a very special date night! ๐Ÿฅฐ Finally it was time to see Jurassic World: Dominion. After literally not shutting up about it for months on end, the big night finally came! I got treated to a really wonderful meal, the seating was super comfortable, the screen was huge… and the movie was all I had hoped for and more!

I brought my T. rex, Frijol, with me, and had my usual Jurassic getup (shirt and backpack, and a triceratops baby necklace):

He was excited, too! ๐Ÿฆ–๐Ÿ‘‘

I will say that as far as this film was concerned, my expectations were modest, and my desires simple: I wanted awesome dinosaurs to fill the screen and alternatively rampage things, be awe-inspiring, be cute, be conniving, and/or be loud, or a combination of all of these things.

I wanted to see the old beloved cast (hello Jeff Goldblum, boy did you age well ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ‘Œ) interact with the new cast, which really grew on me over the years. I wanted to see Blue’s baby, Beta, be adorable. I wanted to stifle a scream each time I recognized a favorite dino. I wanted a movie I’ll want to rewatch. Suffice to say, I got all of that!

The following picture was, of course, taken before the movie started and before we got our food –this was the pre-show and I put my phone away when the trailers started.

NOTE: After the photo, there will be a cut (unless you’re reading this in email form, I think). After the cut will be my thoughts on the movie, which WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. You have been warned!

SPOILERS FOR JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION BELOW THE CUT!

April Rolls Swiftly On! ๐ŸŒโ˜”

Happy Sunday, everyone! I’m back with another weekly recap. I should first say that while this post is post-dated for the week of Monday 4th-Sunday 10th of April, it’s about two weeks late… my apologies. It’s been very hectic, if in an on-and-off way. The subsequent week is also being posted momentarily.

As you will see in both posts (and a few additional side posts) my days have been packed with activities –though nothing much happened during this particular week that wasn’t me working on art, taking walks, playing video games (which I’m sharing on separate posts), shopping for dinner ingredients, or cooking (at least until the weekend).

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

First off, now that the house is fully painted, let me show you better photos of what it looks like. I feel like it’s the prettiest colored house anywhere near us. But maybe I’m just biased.

The entrance looks so bright and colorful. I love it so much!

On the topic of colorful things, here is a friend I picked up at the craft store’s spring section. This time of the year is always great to find new snail-themed decor, and of course I added it to the collection on display around the snail tank.

On Monday night we made mojo chicken bowls. We all worked together on different parts of the meal, and marinated the chicken for about a day. It was pretty great!

๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆ

On Tuesday I went for a walk, just for fun and to pick up dinner ingredients. At Dollar General I found the Harold Mega Bloks set, I was really happy to add him to my collection that already has Thomas and Percy:

I also found this super cool Crayola dinosaur kit. I love the box so much that for now it’s on display on a shelf. Someday I’m sure I’ll open it though.

I made my guys quiche for dinner:

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

During my Tuesday walk I passed one of the buildings that they are tearing down. They were an eyesore for a very long time; years. It is weird to see them disappear so quickly.

Here’s a little GIF I made of Kotoko greeting me with a silent meow:

Of course today we had date night again. My husband and our partner played the new Kirby game while I enjoyed watching. I got some screenshots to share this time:

It’s an adorable game, we’ve already had a few enjoyable evenings with it.

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

I’ve started having bagels with smoked salmon for lunch sometimes; I like them a lot.

Some cute photos of Kotoko, including a tiny blep and an old-lady yawn:

Today we made a sort of (fake) grass carpet on the porch. Our partner was using this stuff to decorate his old apartment, and now that he’s living with us, he didn’t know what to do with it. He suggested this as opposed to trashing it and I think it looks interesting.

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Here’s a photo I took on Saturday of Rosie enjoying the new “grass”:

This day I got up early and prepped the slow cooker to cook beef for tacos all day. After cooking for like eight hours, it was amazing for dinner:

๐ŸŒˆ Sunday ๐ŸŒˆ

Sunday was our adventure day. Our partner and I went to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (being outdoors, we could not convince our favorite vampire to come along). This is a very beautiful place that our partner had never been to, so I was really excited for him to enjoy it since he loves flowers and nature.

I took lots of photos that I will caption here and there, and had a little risky adventure.

First, a pretty brook…

Just general photos of the garden’s beauty:

A friend!

Speedy getaway ๐Ÿ˜

Ok now for a little story. You wouldn’t think so by the manicured look of this place, but there are multiple gators living here (in spite of the sign saying crocs, this is an alligator area):

Now I’ve been living in Florida for twenty years, and whenever I see these signs I get so excited to see a real, live alligator. Not to get close. Just to see one. They are basically dinosaurs. But I never had seen one in the wild. Today though, would be the day!

Prior to this encounter, we were walking down a nature trail –here’s some pictures of it:

Anyway there we were, when I pointed down to our partner a strange gathering of bluish flies at our feet. They were flying in a curious pattern. Cue him going “oh shit” and grabbing me and quickly pulling me back. What I had assumed to be flies, perhaps close to an animal carcass or waste, was a nest of blue-winged wasps!

We didn’t know at the time that these wasps are not super aggressive, and it is possible to gently walk through a swarm unmolested (we would come across a second nest later after the gator encounter, and again felt lucky to not be stung, since we didn’t see it until we almost stepped on it, just like this time).

A bit rattled by the wasp nest sighting, we doubled back and took another trail. Barely five steps into the trail I wanted to take a photo of the lake before going right.

…well, I didn’t when taking the photo above. But then I looked again, and my gasp of “Is that real?” was greeted by another “oh shit” from our partner (we were about twenty feet away from this quite massive guy –you can best gauge the distance in the photo above, as the one below is significantly zoomed in):

The scary thing is that he blended in so well. I could have gotten a lot closer before noticing him.

Now I want to point out a few things. The weird tag-like thing on his tail. His almost comical grin. His way-too-white teeth. His goofily beady eye. And of course he (she?) was perfectly still. All of these things together would have me bet money that this was not a live animal. I wasn’t stupid enough to approach him, just trust me that we were far away enough, but I did feel very sure that this must have been some decoy thing placed there by the garden keepers to keep people from approaching the water and actually risking a real encounter.

Since we were at a distance to make an easy getaway if needed, our partner began throwing very tiny pebbles at the water, and kinda near the gator’s head. I’m talking the size of my thumbnail, nothing that would have hurt the guy, but perhaps I dunno, made him blink? I will say again I was quite sure this gator could not possibly be real. So many years of never seeing one… My companion, wisely, told me one must always assume they are, but we both found the gator’s complete lack of reaction surprising.

We tossed maybe three very tiny pebbles. The last, rather than hitting the water, fell upon the gator’s butt with “toc!”. And here I can tell you this was a very real creature that immediately and quickly looked at his ass in a totally unamused way before resuming his sunbath, and then we left very fast and very respectfully and I felt very very bad for having done anything close to harassing him while he enjoyed his siesta.

But, boy. Was I over the moon! Going forward I will assume all are real (and so should you)! It’s uncanny how fake they can look. I just did not expect a gator to have such a goofy smile. It was rather cute. Definitely made my day. But I will say, please don’t do what we did. I know our partner humored me because we were at a safe distance. But had I been more sure that he was a real animal I would just have looked and walked away.

On our way back around we took another photo from the other side, and warned people we saw heading in that direction, so that he would be unbothered.

We continued to go around the garden, smelling flowers and studying leaves:

I made a GIF of our walk through the path above, because it was so pretty:

This tree had a face:

Here’s a photoset of many pretty flowers that we saw:

For a light lunch, we had crepes!

We had a wonderful (and adventurous!) time. Once home, I made korean beef bowls for dinner for the three of us. It came out pretty good:

Next week we are visiting family for Easter. And the week after that, Mwako is visiting us! I’m so excited. Are you excited for Easter too?

An On-And-Off Rainy Week โ˜”

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for a recap. I was sick for a bunch of this cold, rainy week, but in moderately high spirits regardless. So I’ll begin with some musings before the actual recap. You may already have heard me go on about the following a bit on Twitter, but I wanted to expand here.

I drew a LOT this week, felt very creative, getting back in touch with a part of my artist self that I’ve kinda abandoned over the last ten years. I’d say the last couple of years have brought me the most joy art-wise. I feel more fulfilled when I draw than ever before. And yet… I’ve felt these past six months as though clients in the art community I’m in may be kinda moving on from me and some other artists.

I see a lot of established artists like myself struggle to fill slots, including artists that were once in high demand. Maybe it’s the economy, maybe it’s algorithms, all I know is I am not the only one (which is some comfort).

Basically, I’m trying to branch out, at least before I give up on commission art altogether. I’m trying to go back to my cute little characters from 10+ years ago, the non-commission art that predates my days in the fandom, which has more mass appeal.

I’m also going to be doing the odd fan art. I just feel like there is less demand for some parts of my work these days. So, rediscovering myself as an artist this week has been refreshing, even though the uncertainty regarding funds does have me very worried.

๐Ÿคง Monday ๐Ÿคง

Nothing much to say for Monday. Had a quiet but busy day at home. All I have to share from this day is a picture of Rosie.

โ˜” Tuesday โ˜”

I’d been getting pretty stir crazy, so, on this day, I got permission from Christopher for a Starbucks treat, and went out. It was rainy. I spent some time at Starbucks, and once I was done with my food, I walked to the bookstore.

At Barnes & Noble I got a plushie and a book. I also read this picture book which promptly made me tear up in the store. I would have bought it, but it was like twenty bucks. I ended up buying it on Amazon as soon as I got home.

Usually I share a little bit of the inside of a book. But I feel like a lot of the punch of this book is lost if you show any pages. It’s a bit like a little comforting, hopeful song, and a book I intend to keep near my desk to read when I need to remind myself that all bad times are temporary. I really, really recommend it, even if you are an adult, it’s a nice thing to have.

The other book I got was Growing Grouchy. A very cute little story of Oscar’s birth and early years. And a little chick that I named Gumdrop.

Here’s a couple of close-ups from that book. I love the cameo of little grumpy Bert:

And a photo of Gumdrop with the hat I picked. I’ll make him a bandana and name necklace soon:

๐Ÿค Wednesday ๐Ÿค

Wednesday was another day of arting. In the morning I had a Zoom call with my mom. Then I went on a walk (it was rainy again, but nice and cool out):

…and had an acai bowl for lunch:

Not much else to say about this day. I’ve just been working so much every day this week, I didn’t leave much time for leisure. ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿฎ Thursday ๐Ÿฎ

Ok as far as Thursday, first let me get my lunch out of the way. I made my own Mexican-style corn thing and it was very yummy, I had queso for a dip:

The best part of Thursday was date night. I’d long been excited about it because we planned to watch Turning Red. I was very turned off by this movie when I saw the first trailers and images, but as I heard more about it after its release, I got a little more interested.

Well, I’ve got to say, it is my favorite Pixar movie in years! The expressions and body language of the characters absolutely make the movie. As some have stated, it is cringy, but in a delightful, purposeful, “that’s the joke” sort of way: your early teens ARE probably the cringiest part of your life, after all.

It is also a love letter to the late 90s/early 2000s, a pivotal point in my own life. I was a bit of a late bloomer, since I was Mei’s age in 1997, but it was around the time the movie takes place (a few years after that, meaning I was older) was when I was emotionally in the same place Mei is in the film. I still found it deeply relatable, even more so because it was just my mother and me during a large part of my late childhood and all of my teens/early adulthood.

Conflict was inevitable, especially as I got older, but I was much less “my own person” than Mei is (too afraid to do so) and had no friends to fall back on, other than one girl for a couple of years. So, it would take me until I left the house at 30 (!!) to slowly begin to feel like voicing serious disagreement, let alone anger, to my mom was allowed.

These days, it is much less of an issue for me. Like with Mei, having other people giving you perspective really helps you to be your own person, standing on your own two feet –and eventually you don’t need that either.

Anyway, between watching an animated movie (something I haven’t done in forever) and getting a Happy Meal, WITH a toy I actually cared for, this was a very “Little” night! I was over the moon when I saw that Mario Kart was the theme!

To make things even better, I got Bowser, and my burgers where some of the best I had in a while, with very juicy pickles. I even used my Bluey placemat for the first time!

After the movie we just hung out and had quality time together. It was a lovely evening and the highlight of my week all around.

Friday

This was a very busy day. I worked on art all day, and we went shopping to like four different stores for groceries. That was actually very pleasant, and I got treated to my favorite sandwiches from the Argentinean bakery. But it is always so hard to step away from my work.

We had a lovely dinner at home in the evening. Here is a photo of Kotoko and Elliot that I took in the early afternoon to wrap up the post:

Tomorrow we have an outing, and Sunday a dinner with friends, so I’ll do the weekend on a separate post in case I end up with a lot of photos.

Mid-March Weekly Summary ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ›

Hello, everyone! I hope youโ€™ve had a happy week! Itโ€™s been very busy for us, as all weeks have been lately. So, as has become the norm for my blog, I just have one long post to catch you all up on the weekโ€™s happenings.

For starters, I am sick again. It seems I had one week of relief in between head colds. Itโ€™s very mild (milder than the prior one). Just really annoying. Anyway! Letโ€™s begin.

๐Ÿ› Curry Dinner! ๐Ÿ›

On Tuesday night, I made Japanese style curry. Iโ€™ve had many previous attempts that didnโ€™t turn out so great. Finally I figured it out, trying a new recipe which I doctored a bit. My guys loved it, as did I, and Iโ€™m looking forward to having it again with different meats.

๐ŸŽ‚ Christopher’s 38th Birthday Dinner ๐ŸŽ‚

Wednesday was Christopherโ€™s birthday! He got his remaining presents in the morning, and in the evening, we went to The Capital Grille in Downtown Miami. It was an extremely fancy restaurant, a real treat, so I dressed up a little.

Christopher was… excited.

All the food was wonderful, but I didn’t have my phone (forgot it in the car) so I didn’t take many pictures. Here is one of the appetizer, though, Tuna Tartare:

It was spicy. We also got a picture of Christopher with his birthday dessert:

๐Ÿงธ Toklo ๐Ÿงธ

Toklo now has a new ribbon and shirt. He still needs his name necklace, I’ll work on that next week.

The shirt is pretty funny, it was a Build-A-Bear online exclusive.

๐Ÿš‚ Date Night ๐Ÿš‚

For date night, we had one more round of playing with our trains before putting them away. We’ll probably play again in a month or two; I’m sure I’ll want to, as my new Thomas things begin to arrive later this month.

A little video…

Toklo got to play with us too:

The cats always love to observe and walk among the track. They don’t destroy anything, they just get excited by it all.

Afterwards we had tea. They gamed for a bit while I kept fiddling with Instagram, setting up my new art account. It was a nice, chill end to a lovely evening together.

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Rosie ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Have some cute photos I took of Rosie. I woke her up from her morning nap and played with her a little. She is such a soft, sweet little thing!

๐Ÿฅž Pancake Breakfast ๐Ÿฅž

This weekend, Christopher’s mom and grandma came to visit and celebrate Christopher’s birthday. We went to Nami Sushi for Friday night dinner and to a Thai place on Saturday evening. On Saturday morning, we had pancakes. Christopher made me a mouse-shaped one, so I decorated it:

It was very yummy!

Unfortunately I spent a lot of the weekend in a very crabby mood due to being sick. I am not very sick, but it is annoying. It makes it harder to do anything, and I am constantly sleepy. It also got a lot colder on Saturday night, and the cold makes me lazier. Hopefully I get my energy back again real soon.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Goodies From This Week ๐Ÿ“ฆ

I have a few new things to share. One is this new top I got on Etsy. It appears very wrinkled in this photo, but it’s really very cute:

I also got a Super Mario coloring/sticker book and a Camp Cretaceous activity play-pack:

Finally, we went on a Goodwill stroll yesterday, and I had two happy finds. One is this lovely old storybook:

And the other is this awesome, massive Sesame Street blanket that I covered my futon with. I love it! It is like new, and only six bucks.

That is all for this week’s post. I am tired, and busy… I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and I look forward to sharing another week of art with you as I get back to my drawing board on Monday.

Summary Of The Last Few Days! ๐Ÿคง๐Ÿ„๐ŸŒˆ

Hello everyone, it’s time for the weekly update. As I’ve stated on Twitter, these past days I wake up and after my coffee and news reading it feels so frivolous to do my chores, work on art, or on my blog, or play with the cats. I feel so utterly guilty to have my privileged peaceful existence, for no reason other than luck.

I hope itโ€™s not inappropriate to continue sharing happy mundane things or cutesy art. Iโ€™m not trying to be callous, but I also want to continue recording my daily life, making art, and hopefully making people smile if I can.

Before I move on with my nonsense, I want to share this link with you. It is a C|NET article with information on how to help Ukrainian refugees and others affected by Russia’s unprovoked, cruel attack, it also lists the Charity Navigator ranking of each of these charities. I encourage you to take a look and help in any way that you are able.

A lot of things happened this week. Firstly, I spent most of the week sick. Well, sort of. I hadn’t been sick all of this time, since COVID began, and finally caught Christopher’s latest head cold. So I had a bit of a sore throat and sinus pain and LOTS of sniffling and sneezing but otherwise felt 100% okay, which may sound weird, but generally my colds/coughs/etc are awful, usually bad enough (if attacking my chest) that I need to see a doctor due to infection that will linger up to two months. It has been quite bad on occasion. My last illness was strep throat which was an absolute nightmare… so this was a walk in the park really.

Still, I was in bed a bit more than usual. Tomoyo kept me company.

Recently I’ve been taking more and more walks with one of my partners, definitely a highlight of the days on which we do. My walks are generally very utilitarian… burn this many calories, move on with my day. These walks are now more leisurely, engaged in conversation and looking at little things. Burning less calories I suppose, but it’s pretty good for my mental well-being.

Here is a moth we spotted on one recent such walk. It was very big:

๐Ÿ’˜ Tomoyo ๐Ÿ’˜

Tomoyo has been sweet, staying near me lots. Her asthma continues to be an issue. I try to give her as much affection and attention as I can. Here are some photos I took of her spending time near me while I work…

And a photo/some video from the studio floor…

Turn sound up for cute sounds. She scared herself somehow.

At one point I tried taking a couple of selfies with her. She did not cooperate, this was the best I was able to get.

๐ŸŒณ Park Walk ๐ŸŒณ

Later in the week we went to walk around C. B. Smith Park. I hadn’t been there in a while. We saw some cute Muscovy duckies…

They were very friendly. Next time I’ll bring some healthy seeds or frozen peas to feed them.

They had a bit of an argument at one point…

Here’s a little flower we spotted while chasing iguanas, and just a nice view of the side of a bridge we crossed:

Big mushrooms!

And little ones…

I found my first geocache at C. B. Smith. Though we search together he always finds them first. So I was excited to finally find one, I’m really not very good at finding them yet.

Afterwards I got treated to an acai bowl, it’s one of my new favorite things, especially after a long, hot walk such as this one!

๐ŸŽฎ Variable Barricade ๐ŸŽฎ

Variable Barricade released this week! To the backlog it goes… but slowly I am resuming “normal life”, and expect to enter a proper gaming schedule soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is something I really want to do in a serious manner… I love gaming and just cannot find the time. I need to create an actual structure within which to do so, or else I’ll have invested hundreds of dollars in games I do not allow myself to play because work seems too important by comparison.

๐Ÿ• Date Night Pizza Dinner ๐Ÿ•

For date night this week, we finally went to Mister O1. We tried last date night but the wait was too long. It was pretty good. Simple as it was, the appetizer was my favorite.

We ate outside. It’s really nice to do that for a change.

๐Ÿ‘ฝ Smoke Shop Trip ๐Ÿ‘ฝ

Another day this week I got to visit a smoke shop. I don’t smoke but they have so many cool and hilarious things, such as this E.T. offering free condoms:

And these adorable Grogu pipes, which I just had to photograph to show my sis-in-law:

๐Ÿ„ More Park Walks ๐Ÿ„

Friday was my favorite day this week. Our normal walk ended up feeling more like a long date. ๐Ÿฅฐ We went to two parks, one which I’d been one (Secret Woods Nature Center) and one to which I had not (Topeekeegee Yugnee Park).

Secret Woods Nature Center is always lovely, shaded, with lots of little things to see, including many tiny crabs and spiders.

It’s a very magical-feeling place. When you’re there, all the noise from the city and traffic mere steps away seems to just fade into nothing.

(CW: SPIDER ahead.)

One of the many leggy friends we came across…

On the way to the second park, a huge plane flew right over us. I was able to get some cool pics:

Next came what really was the best part of all! Topeekeegee Yugnee Park was FULL of squirrels. Never seen so many in one place.

This time I’d brought a baggie with healthy treats for them: raw unsalted peanuts, seeds, etc. Not too much, just enough to have the pleasure of feeding them for a bit. They were shy, but soon I was surrounded, it was wonderful.

There were birds too, trying to steal all the seeds, and they were fast. So I had to be quick, too, to help the squirrels get some, because they feared the aggressive birds.

Here’s some video of that. Pesky things… I do like the birds too, but I wish they shared better!

And one more video of squirrel feeding. Forgive my dumbass voice, I was so excited.

Here’s a couple more photos of this lovely place:

Anyway, yeah, this was an utterly wonderful experience. I want to come again as soon as possible.

One last super cool thing. A geocache we found. It was a hole in a tree and the stopper was stuck of a piece of bark! Incredibly well done.

Iโ€™ve made sure not to identify the specific park or location, so hopefully itโ€™s okay to share this photo, I just thought it was fascinating. I would have never found this by myself!

๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿ“ Saturday Morning Pancakes ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅž

This has become a bit of a thing, by which I mean that I beg for pancakes every Saturday morning and for the last three weeks, it has happened.

This time we added chocolate chips, and whipped cream, and the best strawberries I’ve had in months/years. It was delicious!

๐ŸŽธ Saturday Night Outing ๐ŸŽธ

Saturday night we all went out together. We went to Ra Sushi first, a restaurant I’ve always wanted to eat at. It was a good time as it always is when I am in such wonderful company, but man, service was S L O W, and my ramen was literally the worst I have ever, ever had.

BUT! The drinks were very good. I had three mojitos and some sake. I spilled one of my mojitos but it was almost empty. I was not very steady for the rest of the evening. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

After dinner we went to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where we had some alcoholic ice cream…

We got home late and tired but it was a very enjoyable evening. I’m glad to be making so many happy and fun memories together. ๐Ÿฅฐ

๐ŸŽจ Weekly Art Summary ๐ŸŽจ

Here is all the art that got done this week. I also worked a bunch on my book, so it was a pretty productive one, overall!

I think this was a very good week, at least as far as my own life is concerned. Certainly not for the world. I keep reading the news, hoping for some sort of peaceful resolution. Here’s hoping next week brings better news on that front.
