Finally completed all slots for this YCH –starting with my own! ๐ The others are for Crazy_Nero, SpritzStripez, Skuma, Colby-Hedgey, Onikiba and Pukopop. Thank you, friends, for commissioning me!
I’m pretty confident now that nothing else will end up overdue (and nothing is overdue anymore, plus nothing that got posted today was overdue.) This weekend I expect to complete all Reach For The Star YCHs. Thank you for your patience! ^_^

A commission for Crazy_Nero as a gift for Joeythehedgehog!
(Btw, my commission comments aren’t the place to hate on my country or the American flag. If you use my art submission for that, or to insert any sort of politics I’ll immediately block you, I don’t care who you are.)

This is just a random meme I found, no idea of its origin (I did reverse image search and it seems to have been floating around for some time) but its message is really important to me. I felt today is a good day to share it:
Man, oh man… Commissions are delayed, and events/important stuff/trips just keep coming my way. My mom’s immigration process is taking a lot of work. Even with all this going on, I’ve started to make an effort to do some things that are meaningful to me daily, because otherwise I’m not enjoying my days… ๐
I exercised plenty yesterday and today, did some more book outlining yesterday, made a good dinner too, and finished the first volume of The Rose Of Versailles. It’s definitely helping keep my spirits up and, of course, I also got a lot of commission work done, both yesterday and today, so at least there is progress.
Our date night was on the lazy side. We are both very tired. We had Publix chicken and watched TV, and that was a-ok. Sometimes, the simplest things can bring a lot of joy.
(Actually, I had Publix popcorn chicken. He had a Publix sub.)
We also did a lot of deep conversing, which does not happen super often but I always enjoy. It invariably makes me feel closer to him and cements the bond we have. In a world where there is such little nuance, it really makes me happy to have someone with whom I can have serious conversations with –be it about religion, politics or other heavy topics, in a happy and calm manner. Even when we disagreed more than now, we still could talk about such things pleasantly.
Anyway, yesterday I went grocery shopping. In all our local stores, patriotic spirits are high!
That aside, our new goose, named Beetlegoose, arrived! The front of the house is definitely looking… well, let’s just say it rather matches the inside and the porch now:
Looking snazzy in his clown getup:
Christopher’s reaction was a mix of shock and resignation, bless him.
Never in a million years did I think I’d wear something this crass… I hate the whole “Merica!!” or “Murica” meme/misspelling, most of all when I see/hear people saying it unironically, not realizing that the way in which it is said is to mock blind patriotism without a thought for the actual wellbeing of our country (or just as a bad stereotype… see Urban Dictionary.) But… But… It has a squirrel wearing patriotic glasses… with their lil tongue hanging out all cheeky-like…
So… I’m gonna wear it when we go out to dinner on the 21st… ironically! Well. The rednecky/murica part is ironic on my end. My patriotism isn’t. I’m bursting, dripping with patriotism, but only now do I feel like I have (or will soon have) a proper right to express it. ๐
I’ve waited so long to say “my country” about the USA… ๐ฅบ๐๐ค๐
Anyway yeah. This is dumb. But I’ll wear it because squirrel. And America! With an A, dammit.
I’m sure eventually I’ll stop posting these near identical photos of Kotoko next to me on the desk. Eventually. Probably.
I hung this up by my studio door today. The “proud” is a little hard to read, and sure, it’s a little premature, but hey, give me a break, will you. It’s less than a month away!
