Week 10 Summary: Christopher’s Birthday! ๐ŸŽ‚

This was a week with some painful lows but still some happy moments. I went to see my mom, we had family visit, we celebrated Christopher’s birthday, my mom’s immigration process finally had movement, and I completed my first race (well, it was a walk) since restarting my daily strolls. I also took Kotoko to the vet, some tests were done, and the results were not good.

Because of those test results, I want to warn you that this post will discuss pet illness and impending (though not immediate) loss. Because it’ll come right away, under the Monday summary, there is no cut: if you keep reading, it’ll be after the “soot” photo. So please be aware of that. Anyway, let’s get on with the summary.

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Let’s start Monday with something utterly delightful. Remember the soots from last week? The blue soot at this employee’s desk has been graced with a tiny hat!

I love the idea of someone possibly purposely bringing this hat to work for this soot. It’s so cute.

๐Ÿ’ž Pet Illness/Loss CW Starts Here ๐Ÿ’ž

Now, with much regret, I must move on to a more somber topic. You might recall I mentioned on my last post that I planned to take Kotoko to the vet on Monday. Her projectile vomiting is somewhat controlled by occasional Cerenia, but with no specific cause, I wanted to try the vet near our house and see if anything else had developed that our usual, beloved and trusted vet, Dr. Pisano, had not seen at the time. It was also time for a new blood test.

Kotoko was quite noisy as everything was done to her –check-up, x-rays, blood work. She was in discomfort, her tummy tense, and the x-rays would show other motives too. Here she is attentively listening to the vet talk about her:

After the x-rays were done, the vet took me to the back to show them to me. In this first one, if you know what you are looking at, you will catch a few things: the first being the spacing between her last few vertebrae, where an irreversible degeneration is occurring. This is painful for Kotoko, and probably made the x-rays more uncomfortable too.

The more important one is the thickening, or potential mass, in her stomach:

Because of her long-standing other symptoms, there isn’t exactly a multitude of possibilities here. It is almost certainly IBS or lymphoma, or IBS that became lymphoma. Kotoko’s blood tests also came back, and they showed the first stage of kidney failure. So as you can see, she is dealing with a lot.

The prognosis is not good. Kidney situation aside, this is a fast-acting disease, and Kotoko is 15 years old. We could do an ultrasound, and possibly need a biopsy to boot ($1,300 at a minimum if both are needed) but all this would tell us is how little time we have left. The course of action would not change.

We have decided to not subject her to any more diagnostics. Instead, we will use our funds for the best prescription foods, for daily medications that will substantially improve her comfort, and in paying for the service that will allow us to say a comfortable goodbye at home when the time does come (this is very expensive, hundreds of dollars).

And really, it could be fast. It could be two months. We could get unlucky, and it could be less, or we could get lucky, and it could be longer. We are going to do all we can to enjoy whatever time is left with her. We might just get lucky in how much time that is. Why not think positive? But even if we don’t, I know I’ll take a lot of comfort in the fact that, at 15, Kotoko has had such a long and happy life. She could have hardly had more loving or dedicated pet parents, if I do say so myself. She also had kitty friends, and many human friends to boot.

You might have seen me mention something very vague on Mastodon. It was about this. I didn’t want to go into detail, because even someone who understands pet loss may not realize why this loss will be so major to us. We’ve experienced severe heartbreak over pet loss before –this will be of a different magnitude. We will be okay. But because this isn’t a normal pet loss situation (I don’t think I could properly explain why) it will be a while until we are.

But I also want to concentrate in the here and now: with daily Cerenia, Kotoko already is showing a big improvement. No more vomiting, much bigger appetite. She just looks more lively. She’s a sturdy cat, and as long as she is here, we will love her and be grateful for her. Later we will have time to grieve. Before that time comes, I am also doing some things like a cute little cast of her paw, and a stamped imprint of it as well. I might do more things if I can think of them.

Something interesting that you can see in this other x-ray is that Kotoko has an extra rib, like some people or animals have an extra toe:

Let me close this part with a little more positivity. I really liked this vet, which is walking distance from us. They also have some chill office cats, three of them. Here’s a photo of one of them:

๐Ÿ’ž Pet Illness/Loss CW Ends Here ๐Ÿ’ž

Monday evening I completed the Snoopy Run, 13.1 miles! I walked it, though.

My medal should be here by the weekend.

๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆ

The most significant event that happened on this day is that my mom’s immigration case entered the last stage on USCIS. She should have her residence soon… I hope!

A funny thing happened too. Tomoyo has a tendency to fling her toys high in the air when she plays. Well, while I was having lunch, this landed on my plate:

It actually landed ON my food (gross) but I moved it off right away. Meanwhile, she was just innocently waiting for me to return it to her:

Here’s a random photo of our sweet old lady:

In the evening I got dropped off at my mom’s. She gave Christopher his birthday present before he and our partner left. Then we had snacks, and wine, played Generala, and talked about a million things.

For dinner we had a baked potato:

๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Wednesday was a calm day. Here’s Sweeney being very cute:

In the afternoon my mom made really delicious egg bites, and we watched TV together.

Later I lay down a while and played more Legends: Arceus.

Not long after, our partner picked me up. Once we got back home, I made the guys dinner, then tea, and just did my best to keep Christopher cheerful. Between the bad news this week and his back hurting so much without a break, it’s been really rough for him.

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

Thursday was Christopher’s birthday. I prepared his presents on his desk before he woke up:

I also hid one in his book bag so he’d have something to open at work. He liked most of them. ๐Ÿ˜Š In the evening, we had dinner at Blue Ginger to celebrate. It was really good!

On this day I finished reading another book. Though it was comics, it was really long, as it was an omnibus of all the Muppet Babies comics, plus the comic in which they first appear (The Muppets Take Manhattan). That marks the seventh book I’ve read this year. With it being March already, this may not sound like much, but “It” was well over 1,100 pages… so that took a while.

The Muppet Babies Omnibus was delightful. Some frames made me do a double take! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Baby Rowlf was adorable…

There were a lot of funny fourth wall breaking moments. This one was particularly amusing!

Next, I’m going to finish The Last Days of the Dinosaurs by Riley Black.

I decided to move one of the cat stairs to the porch to make it easier for Kotoko to access the chairs, particularly in light of her spine degeneration. She uses it, but right now, mostly sleeps on the bigger step rather than the chair, I guess because it became “new” again. Elliot sleeps on the chair.

It’s been so much fun to feed the birds and squirrels at the front of the house. Here’s a photo I took on this day:

Down the road, I would like to buy a bench and a birdbath, so I can enjoy seeing them up close while I’m outside reading a book.

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

Let’s start Friday off with this photo of Tomoyo lounging on my chest. Really, she’s just waiting to be fed.

It was cage cleaning day, so here’s a couple of photos of a cutie:

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Saturday morning we went to look at garage sales, a favorite activity when family visits. You never know what you’ll find!

For lunch we went to Chili’s. I had Palmito in my backpack so I took photos of him on this day:

You very likely have never seen Palmito, Robito or Rosemary (the skunk, not the cat). These little plushies were the first I ever took places with me back in the heyday of Toyvoyagers.

Though the website is still accessible on the date of me making this post, and the odd Travelog still updates, Toyvoyagers are sadly very much defunct. The idea was that you bought a little metal tag with a unique number for your toy, and left it places, and hoped someone would update its Travelog. It did happen! Alternatively, you could send your toy to one person elsewhere in the world, and then they would come back. Or you could have it join a “round robin” of locations.

All of my Toyvoyagers went places and brought me back souvenirs. It’s nice to be taking them out again.

When we got back from lunch, I found my latest medal in the mailbox. It’s really pretty!

I also have the t-shirt (though I won’t make a habit of ordering those) and the race bib with my number, which I’ll probably use for a scrapbooking page.

Christopher gave me $5 and I got some goodies while out garage saling:

This book is for dungeon masters but really cool and inspiring nonetheless!

And I couldn’t leave this little guy behind:

I’ve washed and disinfected him, so he’s ready for cuddling!

For Christopher’s birthday dinner, we went to Buca Di Beppo. We had chicken parmigiana, stuffed shells, meatballs, and garlic bread. We had a coupon for a free dessert for Christopher that was big enough for the five of us!

It’s really nice to be taking Palmito out for photos again. It’s been many years.

After we got home, we hung out at the house watching Christopher play GTA 5 (always fun) and then our friend Jessie came over, so we watched the two of them and our partner play the Stick Fight game on Steam. It was a really nice and chill evening.

๐ŸŒˆ Sunday ๐ŸŒˆ

I went on my usual five mile walk, and stopped by Target. I hadn’t been to Target all year. They had a new version of their Sesame Street figures that was really cute:

Christopher made a really good pasta with zucchini for dinner. It looked far too healthy to be so delicious, I was pleasantly surprised. Can’t wait to have it again.

I usually only sleep with Grover, but on this night I wanted to cuddle my new triceratops friend too. Grover didn’t mind sharing!

Before we know it, March will be over… the rainy season will come, with it the humid and oppressive heat, and then hurricane season. Time is flying, but I’m trying to make the best of it, and I hope you all are too. Let’s make this coming week a wonderful one!

Birthday Dinner! ๐ŸŽˆ

Today was an amazing day. My husband and our partner took me on an โœจ extremely โœจ fancy birthday dinner at Komodo in Miami! I got to have their famous Pikachu drink. It really knocked me on my ass ๐Ÿ˜

Every bit of food was incredible. I forget the name of my meal; honestly, I was drunk. But it was amazing. So were the appetizers, and the ambience.

My dessert was so prettyโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽ‚โœจ

On another note we ordered Chipotle for lunch and of course our partner made my bowl name embarrassing… ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜’

Welcome, April! ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒˆโ˜”

Happy April, everyone! Boy, this was one stressful week, but it did have good moments regardless. Not only was our house painted this week, but we cleaned the back porch (a grueling task every time as you might recall) I was on my period for half the week, had to do our taxes, go to an appointment at the Social Security Administration office, I visited my mom to celebrate her birthday, and went on a couple of outings with my husband and our partner.

This is my sorry face

So if you are among the multiple people I’ve left on read these past few days… I am so sorry, and you are still on my mind, and not forgotten… it’s been a heck of a week… I’ll be catching up with messages as the week rolls on.

I also played a lot of Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracles~ (I’m on Cantarella’s story right now) and we are watching Tenchi Muyo so I felt the above GIF was appropiate. ^_^

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Monday was fairly quiet. I worked on commissions and did housework, but was a bit subdued due to my period. Our house began to be prepped for painting on this day.

For lunch, I made toasted rice balls for our partner and I. He’d never had them before.

Got to use my new Bluey plate, cutlery and bowl, so that made me happy.

And speaking of Bluey –here is a coloring book I got recently:

The pages are kinda thin, so I’ll just scan and reprint on thicker paper when I want to color it. This is actually how I preserve most of my coloring books, including many vintage ones!

๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Tuesday was the Social Security appointment (for my name change). It went smoothly, other than the security guard at the entrance being so intimidating towards everyone, especially older people who could not understand English nor understand what was going on. Even though inside plenty of signage indicates accommodating if you need an interpreter, the officer was aggressive and angry towards these poor mostly Latin people who barely spoke English and were so confused and even frightened by his demeanor. ๐Ÿ˜

Once that was done, I walked to Target. I saw these traffic cones on the way that grass had grown right through. Seems the grass around them was mowed without the cones being moved a few times. I thought it looked interesting enough for a picture:

By the time I got home, a lot of progress had been done on the house painting. Here is a before and after at that point in time (I’ll have a final update next week):

I didn’t have much time to admire the house. I had to finish all my chores, and pack, and then our partner drove me to my mom’s. She and I went to dinner pretty soon after I got there to celebrate her birthday:

I had primavera pizza! It’s my favorite because it has egg:

Once we got home, my mom opened her birthday present. Christopher bought her a laptop (her computer was ANCIENT). She was really happy –Sweeney tested it immediately! Meanwhile, Shampoo enjoyed laying on a crinkly paper bag. To each their own.

๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Wednesday was my mom and I’s usual peaceful morning of TV, mate, and conversation. I also drew and played a bit of Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracles~ here and there.

Gumdrop had his first taste of mate!

My mom had a really big surprise for me! She was able to find my favorite childhood cookies, which I have not had for over twenty years!

They have zodiac signs on them:

A close similar cookie was Pepperidge Farm’s chessmen chocolate cookies, but I think they were discontinued in my area a long time ago. I can’t find them anywhere anymore. Anyway, my mom got me like three bags of these, so that was a wonderful surprise!

For Wednesday night dinner, my mom made fries (my favorite)!

As if that weren’t enough, she made a legit Argentinean bizcochuelo for dessert, another big treat. The mix was yet another childhood favorite that she was able to acquire recently through a shopping service.

After dinner, my guys picked me up. At home I had yet another wonderful surprise waiting for me! At first I couldn’t find Yoshi anywhere and I was sure our partner had hidden him or placed him in some sort of unfortunate situation, as he tends to do to my toys. But Yoshi turned out to be waiting for me on my desk, and he was holding the Limited Run visual novel I’ve been begging Christopher for!

It’s The House In Fata Morgana. I’ve heard many good things about it.

That, and watching TV and cuddling all together, made for a wonderful end to my day.

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

I forgot to share this other surprise my mom gave me during my visit! Last time she got me the Mafalda figure and magazine. This time it was Manolito:

On Thursday I walked to Target to pick up an online order. I wanted to get one of these dino clickers, mostly as a desk fidget toy. His head and legs click when you move them. He’s really cute.

For date night, I made another massive snack spread, while the guys continued playing Kirby and I watched. Didn’t get quite so drunk on this day, but it was still a nice time.

Also, on this day, more engines arrived!

They are so, SO well made, utterly perfect in every way! I received Thomas, Percy, Gordon, and my favorite boy, James!

The facial expressions are great; Percy’s in particular is hilarious:

I wish they’d given James his angry face, but I love them all.

Can’t wait to get my hands on Henry, and Cranky when they remake him too.

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

Since we had our date night in on Thursday, Friday was our day out. First we went out to ramen!

The atmosphere outside was spooky. Not only was it rainy, but the Everglades were on fire, and you could clearly see the smoke amidst the clouds. Our car was covered in ash!

After lunch we went to Monster MiniGolf. It was really fun! We took this photo of one of the animatronics:

I don’t even know who won. I just know it wasn’t me and I had lots of fun. Before going home, we passed by Dollar Tree, where I got a couple of Arthur puzzles, a giant dinosaur coloring book, and a velvet dino coloring stand:

I also got a little bandana for my Grogu:

Then we went home to bed and watched TV for ages, it was very cozy. ๐Ÿฅฐ

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Saturday was exhausting. I did lots of chores, and helped a bit with the porch cleaning (I did a bigger amount of that yesterday, but on Friday our partner did most of the remaining cleaning). Then I put all the furniture back. It looks wonderful, even if it was a lot of work:

I also redecorated the litter box area a bit. ๐Ÿ˜ธ Some things still need to be hung back up (a lot was taken down due to the painting) but there’s only so much time in a single week…

The porch and chores such as laundry basically took my entire day, but I was able to relax a little in the evening.

๐ŸŒˆ Sunday ๐ŸŒˆ

On Sunday our partner and I went on a little solo date, it’s not a common occurrence since we generally prefer to do everything the three of us together, but Christopher had been desperately craving some alone time to just veg at home without us being our usual obnoxious selves around him. ๐Ÿ˜…

We went to the Perez Art Museum Miami, and to Wynwood for lunch and a little ice cream. We saw some cool stuff but I didn’t get any photos other than these:

After that we were on a quest to find fancy soaps, which we didn’t find, but I got these cool crayons:

Then I made dinner and we just relaxed. That was the end to a week that was at times fun, at times stressful, but good overall, as most weeks have been lately. There’s a lot of love in our home and I feel very lucky, even if things are hectic sometimes and it seems like we never stop doing things. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mid-March Weekly Summary ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ›

Hello, everyone! I hope youโ€™ve had a happy week! Itโ€™s been very busy for us, as all weeks have been lately. So, as has become the norm for my blog, I just have one long post to catch you all up on the weekโ€™s happenings.

For starters, I am sick again. It seems I had one week of relief in between head colds. Itโ€™s very mild (milder than the prior one). Just really annoying. Anyway! Letโ€™s begin.

๐Ÿ› Curry Dinner! ๐Ÿ›

On Tuesday night, I made Japanese style curry. Iโ€™ve had many previous attempts that didnโ€™t turn out so great. Finally I figured it out, trying a new recipe which I doctored a bit. My guys loved it, as did I, and Iโ€™m looking forward to having it again with different meats.

๐ŸŽ‚ Christopher’s 38th Birthday Dinner ๐ŸŽ‚

Wednesday was Christopherโ€™s birthday! He got his remaining presents in the morning, and in the evening, we went to The Capital Grille in Downtown Miami. It was an extremely fancy restaurant, a real treat, so I dressed up a little.

Christopher was… excited.

All the food was wonderful, but I didn’t have my phone (forgot it in the car) so I didn’t take many pictures. Here is one of the appetizer, though, Tuna Tartare:

It was spicy. We also got a picture of Christopher with his birthday dessert:

๐Ÿงธ Toklo ๐Ÿงธ

Toklo now has a new ribbon and shirt. He still needs his name necklace, I’ll work on that next week.

The shirt is pretty funny, it was a Build-A-Bear online exclusive.

๐Ÿš‚ Date Night ๐Ÿš‚

For date night, we had one more round of playing with our trains before putting them away. We’ll probably play again in a month or two; I’m sure I’ll want to, as my new Thomas things begin to arrive later this month.

A little video…

Toklo got to play with us too:

The cats always love to observe and walk among the track. They don’t destroy anything, they just get excited by it all.

Afterwards we had tea. They gamed for a bit while I kept fiddling with Instagram, setting up my new art account. It was a nice, chill end to a lovely evening together.

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Rosie ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Have some cute photos I took of Rosie. I woke her up from her morning nap and played with her a little. She is such a soft, sweet little thing!

๐Ÿฅž Pancake Breakfast ๐Ÿฅž

This weekend, Christopher’s mom and grandma came to visit and celebrate Christopher’s birthday. We went to Nami Sushi for Friday night dinner and to a Thai place on Saturday evening. On Saturday morning, we had pancakes. Christopher made me a mouse-shaped one, so I decorated it:

It was very yummy!

Unfortunately I spent a lot of the weekend in a very crabby mood due to being sick. I am not very sick, but it is annoying. It makes it harder to do anything, and I am constantly sleepy. It also got a lot colder on Saturday night, and the cold makes me lazier. Hopefully I get my energy back again real soon.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Goodies From This Week ๐Ÿ“ฆ

I have a few new things to share. One is this new top I got on Etsy. It appears very wrinkled in this photo, but it’s really very cute:

I also got a Super Mario coloring/sticker book and a Camp Cretaceous activity play-pack:

Finally, we went on a Goodwill stroll yesterday, and I had two happy finds. One is this lovely old storybook:

And the other is this awesome, massive Sesame Street blanket that I covered my futon with. I love it! It is like new, and only six bucks.

That is all for this week’s post. I am tired, and busy… I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and I look forward to sharing another week of art with you as I get back to my drawing board on Monday.

Birthday Fun! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ‚

Hi hi, everyone!! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Guess what today is. It’s my birthday! ๐Ÿฅณ Of course you know, because I’m the kind of person who doesn’t shut up about these things. ๐Ÿ˜ The first thing I woke up to was a birthday greeting and Amazon gift card from my mom in law. I think I had spent it literally ten minutes later. I’m terrible.

But anyway, got even more stuff I’m looking forward to arriving now. Today was extremely overindulgent. ๐Ÿ˜… But I have been so sad, and so stressed, especially the last week. I am a lot happier.

๐ŸŽ Opening Presents ๐ŸŽ

The first present I opened arrived some weeks ago. I didn’t know who it was from until today –thank you very much to my friend Kiba! It’s Felix Salten’s “Forest World”:

Felix Salten is a writer best known for the books “Bambi” and “Bambi’s Children”, but he also wrote “Fifteen Rabbits”, “Perri: The Youth Of A Squirrel” and many other wonderful books, which are often heartbreaking and full of death, but also hopeful and with beautiful descriptions of the wonders of life and of nature.

As I continued opening my presents, it turned out (based on the included gift notes) that I got some from Bluey and her gang! ๐Ÿคฏ What is this sorcery?

They sent me the Shadowlands board game, and some stickers! Thank you Bluey, Coco and Snickers! I think my friend Mwako was involved in making it happen, though… ๐Ÿฆ

The next package was from a dear commissioner, whom I love to draw. He has a very cute mouse character, a weakness of mine! His name in the community is Fieval. He sent me some Bluey figures! Thank you very much, Matt! ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿ’•

It was finally time to open my biggest present. I was very excited, so I saved it for last, and… HOLY CRAP!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•โœจโœจโœจโœจโœจโœจ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ *sobs*

I lost my freaking mind, it’s so cute!! Again, I suspect a tiny lion had something to do with it… although it still seemed to come from either Bluey or Bingo. Who IS the keepy-uppy expert? Was that ever established? I can’t recall. ๐ŸŽˆ

You know… I wish I could have told 7 year old me that I would still be getting toys from multiple people for my 38th birthday –from people who also, like me, like toys and kiddy things as adults. That I would have a tank full of snails and four cats, and a library, and a husband who’s kind of a big kid like me in some ways too and makes me feel safe and loved… and drawing every day… what a life. I hope nothing happens to take it all away, but even if it did I would be so grateful for all I had until today.

๐ŸŒˆ Out Shopping ๐ŸŒˆ

Earlier in the day, my friend Snow sent me a present too! Some birthday monies to spend however I wanted today. So I decided to go out. And I finally made an outfit around my new Bluey shirt!

I really love it a whole lot! I wore my boots because it was sprinkling when I left but in the end I didn’t need them. It was sunny all throughout. ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒปโœจ

I have a mask but itโ€™s not in this photo. Iโ€™m wearing a mask indoors again when shipping and such, to be extra safe, but I am vaccinated! โœŒ๐ŸŒˆโœจ๐Ÿ’‰

I had a lot of fun on my walk, but was definitely glad that I brought a bottle of water (something I’m bad about) because the heat was quite unbearable. Here is my birthday treasure hoard from that excursion:

One of my favorites was this squirrel which will likely be displayed for the entirety of fall every year going forward! And speaking of squirrels and fallโ€ฆ another fun fall squirrel thing I got was a garden flag to put at the front of the house. Have I mentioned Iโ€™m excited for fall? ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฐ

As you can see in the first photo I also got fall, Christmas and Birthday stickers, a new pair of scissors, and some Pride tape. And these amazing scented gel crayons! ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Small softcover books make great, cheap scrapbooking suppliesโ€ฆ although a part of myself dies when I cut up a brand new book, even if I bought it for this specific purposeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ญโœ‚๏ธ

One of the nicest thing I got was another Highlights Hidden Pictures puzzle book. I LOVE these:

I love the old-timey art and the level of difficulty is precise to my usual headspace when I’m engaging in type of activities. Here’s some sample pages… ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ I love it so much!

Thank you again, Snow, for all the nice play things I was able to get! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ“ฆ Mail Day ๐Ÿ“ฆ

As if so many wonderful things weren’t enough, when I got home there was stuff in the mail for me. One was the Bella Sara card packs I ordered a while ago:

I’ll use them for scrapbooking. Opening card packs is also a happy and nostalgic activity for me, so I’m very excited about them.

The next really blew my mind!! I specifically asked my mom for the Vegeta figure for my birthday because it was so cheap… like $12. I knew she wanted to get me something, I didn’t want her to overspend on me! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Especially when she’s spent THOUSANDS recently on immigration… WHY… ๐Ÿ˜ข

Anyway… she kept messaging during my outing wanting to know if I was home. It was because of this:

So… yeah… one of the most wanted most expensive things on my list. A gorgeous artbook of my first otome experience, Code: Realize ~Guardian Of Rebirth~.

It even has art I’ve never seen before, so I was quite overcome with emotion by this beautiful present from my loving mom.

๐Ÿ’• Date Night ๐Ÿ’•

After ALL of that, Christopher and I had our date night! I had a really fancy snack and perhaps a bit too much wine. Bangers is protecting my yummy hoard!

Like last time, we played Age of Empires together-but-separately (side by side):

Later we watched a movie. I was too full from snacks to have dinner. ๐Ÿ˜…

Christopher petted me for hours while we watched. I was half dozing off between the wine and all the happy feels and just feeling sooooo good, it was a wonderful evening and I felt so loved and safe.

Now it’s time for bed… thank you, everyone, for all the presents and good wishes. You made me so happy. I guess I’ll have more things to share throughout the weekend as they arrive –but tomorrow I really gotta get some work done! โœŠ๐Ÿ’ฆ Goodnight, everyone…

I Am (Somewhat) Healed ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Yesterday I came to visit my mom and spend the night! We also went out for an early celebration of my birthday when Christopher picked me up. I had a wonderful time and my mom spoiled me so much that I really left feeling much better than when I got there! ๐Ÿ˜Š

As soon as I got there Mom gave me a snack and I began to munch and work on the next warm-up for Nazz. ๐Ÿ‘€ I had Grogu for company on this trip.

Grogu investigates the snack…

My mom made me a huge childhood treat for dinner –cheesy polenta! It’s the best.

As ever, Sweeney alternated between a desire to play and a desire to kill me. He draws blood on every visit, but he really wants to play (until he doesn’t) and he really wants to be pet (until he doesn’t.) And it’s hard to know which is which. Ever since I moved away he’s always a bit pissy to see me, I think because he misses me. But he ends up curled up next to me by the end.

At one point as I was chasing him he put his front paws in my flip-flops, one in each. It was the cutest thing and I can’t believe he stayed like that long enough for a photo!

I ate waaay too much but my first day with Mom was lovely.

The next day, my mom gave me my birthday present early!! Since I wonโ€™t see her for my actual birthday. I knew from the shape what it was. ๐Ÿ˜

ITS MY MAN

Iโ€™m turning 38. Thanks mom for humoring my immature ass. This was my first husbando ever when I was like 13 lol.

Afterwards, my mom made cheddar biscuits and mate cocido to have while we watched TV:

It was really cozy.

In the evening we went to Banchero! It purported to make true Argentinean pizza. Now, you wonโ€™t know this unless you lived and experienced it in Argentina, but Argentinean pizza is just, completely different, with the meltiest cheese, and amazing toppings. It’s the one thing I truly miss from my home country.

For twenty years, we hadnโ€™t been able to find a place that truly replicated our original experience. So my expectations were very high!

Christopher ordered a meat loverโ€™s. My mom and I ordered half morrรณn and half primavera which has EGG! And a piece of fainรก for nostalgiaโ€™s sake, and an entire bottle of wine for my mom and I. It was a very expensive meal because these pizzas cost like, $25 each. But they are 100% worth that price. Trust me. At least ours was.

I asked Christopher to hold Grogu for a photo but he was difficult about itโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜

Eventually I got Grogu to stand, although in her drunkenness, my mom was joining Christopher in his sabotaging efforts by trying to tip poor Grogu over with the pie knife:

Then she wanted to give him an olive as a peace offering:

The pizza really was as I remembered my last from 20 years ago. Met our expectations for sure! It was a big treat from my mom for my birthdayโ€ฆ definitely a costly mealโ€ฆ Authentic Argentinian pizza on the beach isnโ€™t cheap. But it was so worth it. Iโ€™m really grateful to my mom!

Side note, I love my palm sized Grogu so much, but sometimes he talks if his tummy is accidentally pressed and then someone inevitably goes โ€œwhat the hell was thatโ€ and I can either say โ€œmeโ€ or โ€œmy Grogu doll that I carry around everywhereโ€. Itโ€™s a lose-lose either way. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

My Birthday Is This Month! ๐Ÿ˜

I really just want one thing and one thing onlyโ€ฆ books. Books books books! ๐Ÿ“š All the books. It’s all I have on my wishlist, but I have a lot of them. Soโ€ฆ yeah: https://amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1WV2OHLDIQH9C?ref_=wl_share

I have writing reference books, manga, history books, art reference books, novels, everything really… ๐Ÿ˜… I hope to continue to do lots of reading this year. Thank you to anyone who feeds my reading habit lol.

Tired But Happy

Iโ€™m sorry Iโ€™m so late with new posts, especially fitness ones. The last three days have been a blur of housework and other stuff. Grandma and my mom in law are visiting now. We had a lovely evening and they are staying until Sunday morning.

Iโ€™m really happy especially for the time I had with my mom in law tonight. I felt like we were a little more close than usual. When that doesnโ€™t happen for a long time, I try to pretend it doesnโ€™t get to me. But the truth is it really does and my relationship with her is deeply important to me… so tonight, I am very happy. I hope she was proud of how nice the house looked, I did my best and I wanted Grandma to be pleased, but I think deep inside itโ€™s my mom in lawโ€™s approval I crave most of all. I really do love her very much. I think she knew I tried really hard.

It sounds stupid to write that… Iโ€™m not 10 years old. But cleaning this house is hard for me. A part of me wants to be respected as an adult and the other wants to be praised like a little girl. It can be hard to reconcile those two parts of me, but tonight, both parts of my heart feel happy.

I made Christopher another birthday brownie because (he says) I ate most of the first one:

Iโ€™m getting in bed now, with Rosie purring my by ear. Iโ€™ll catch up on posts as I can… hope everyone is doing well!

Christopher’s Birthday! ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฅณ And Other Stuff

Hello everyone! Iโ€™m sorry that Iโ€™ve been quiet for a few days. Iโ€™m overwhelmed, tired, and today just kind of sad too, though I donโ€™t want to talk about that here.

I meant to make this post on the 9th, Christopherโ€™s actual birthday, but didnโ€™t manage it. We had a lot of fun! Even though it was just us, I had a bit of a party atmosphere ready when he got home, including the presents you all sent:

Iโ€™m really grateful to Mikey, Kinder and Wish who were sweet enough to send train track switches for him. I got him one as well, which made for five packs, or a total of ten switches. He was really surprised and happy, and we played with them all evening!

For โ€œcakeโ€, I made him brownies and decorated them:

We tired ourselves out playing and even had vintage episodes of Thomas running on the projector. It was wonderful. Afterwards we had pizza. I meant to even decorate the pizza but I forgot.

I love playing with trains with Christopher. It’s very much a “kiddy” sort of activity (though I donโ€™t think he likes to be reminded of this) and the only one in which both of us lose ourselves completely. I am really one hundred percent in heaven, itโ€™s this thing that is “just for us”, and there was a moment when we were there sitting surrounded by trains, cross-legged, watching an episode of Thomas in that enormous projector screen, I felt so small and happy, and reminded yet again, that I really married my best friend. I canโ€™t believe I married someone who would do this with me and enjoy it unironically. To this day I am baffled by my good fortune.

This is unrelated, but Kotoko has been climbing higher and higher on the condo, which considering her arthritis, is quite an unusual sight. Here I got some photos of her and Tomoyo, whose ear happens to be flipped wrong. Thatโ€™s always funny.

Remember the whistle Christopher got me at the train museum? I removed the wrinkled sticker, sanded all the glue down, designed my own on sticker paper, trimmed it with washi tape, then added multiple coats of spray-on gloss Mod-Podge over the space of two days (of course I covered the tip with painterโ€™s tape). Afterwards I used a hard coat, brush-on waterproof Mod-Podge which gave it a nice wood-like texture and excellent protection.

Even the end tip of the whistle is red. It looks so much better than how it was. Itโ€™s all my own now! But Iโ€™m glad we got it at the museum. For one, because of the memory of getting it there and supporting the museum. But also because it just sounds so damn good.

That asideโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve been doing tons of housework. Also playing a little bit of Cafรฉ Enchantรฉ. And today, my little Percy came in the mail:

Percy is one of my favorite trains, but I donโ€™t think this train figure captures his innocent face at all, or even his proper shape. Maybe later Iโ€™ll find a better Percy.

Christopherโ€™s Early Birthday Party ๐ŸŽ‚

Today we had a little something to celebrate Christopher’s upcoming birthday. It was just us two and a friend but I still did my best to decorate the house and make it feel like a party.

I’d tasked Jessie with bringing an ice cream cake that was just the right size for three. I don’t think he could have done it more perfectly: the cake was about the size of my open palm with my fingers spread out, so it was tiny, but it even had Christopher’s name! We thought it was adorable, and the giant candles just fit:

He also brought really good ice cream from a very fancy parlor. I made beef empanadas, and humita empanadas too, we had some snacks, and a lovely time overall.

We played cards, Mille Bornes. Jessie didn’t like it, but in fairness Jessie doesn’t like any of the things we like, and isn’t shy about reminding us… I wish we could find things to do together that he has interest in. But I think we all had a good time anyways.

I would have liked to have a proper get-together with several friends. Unfortunately, family was supposed to be here this weekend, but canceled on us. So by the time I tried to invite friends, everyone but Jessie had plans. That was a bummer, but well, I tried. the family visit was postponed to next weekend.

It was still a nice time for Christopher, I hope. But we miss our friends. We miss parties. Covid is really wearing on us… I hope we can have a LAN at the end of summer this year.
