🌈 Kidcore Journaling On A Budget 🌈
Hey guys! On this post I wanted to share how I’ve been getting scrapbooking supplies recently for my kiddy journal, for very little monies by looking at stuff that isn’t specifically made for scrapbooking.
For this, you do need a Dollar Tree ideally, but many similar items can be found in dollar stores for similar prices. But Dollar Tree is the best! I would say the most overlooked item for kidcore scrapbooking is brand new, 2-for-$1 greeting cards!
Sometimes you can use the whole front of the card, sometimes you just cut out what you can use (this is most cases, you don’t want the text –the card to the left above is a good example of a card I’ll cut text out of, while the one to the right is a rare example of one I will keep as-is). Very rarely, a card will have nice enough art on the inside that you will want to get two of the same one.
The card to the bottom of the rightmost photo is one such card, you can see them both, the one underneath is open, showing the inside.
I also recommend that you look at all of their books/kids’ workbooks/magazines/comics, regardless of topic, to cut things out of them. You can get a multitude of things you can cut for as little as $3 doing that. But it’s not just books. For example, this $1 calendar is great for that!

Of course Dollar Tree is also fantastic with stickers. These are the only ones I got today, but they have many dimensional cardboard stickers, full sheets, for $1. Sometimes actually nicer than the $4 ones at big crafts stores.
These card games for toddlers are just a dollar. You get SO much in one box! With a little imagination they are great for kidcore type paper crafts:
Also —save things like candy and cookie containers! Happy Meal boxes! Part of toy boxes you opened. Here, I’ve saved parts of boxes of animal crackers and Uncrustables (some of my favorite kiddy snacks) and the front of a juice box (which is easily washed with soap and water):
It is all useful. Pressing flowers or leaves you find is great, too! If you are resourceful, you don’t need a lot of money to have tons of scrappy fun. And it’s more fun cutting things up! 😉
(Make sure to use safety scissors though! And don’t eat the glue!)
