Today my friend Shelly visited! We had some Halloween fun to start off the season (a bit early, but I’m too excited!) I had a whole-ass Halloween Plex playlist for us –all kinds of Halloween cartoons/specials and movies. This isn’t even half of the list!
I dressed up Marzi in her new Halloween dress, we colored Halloween coloring books and pages, and decorated a special Halloween sticker book! It was so much fun. And of course we had lots of Halloweeny snacks.
Here’s Marzi with some of the goodies!
Marzi and I had a surprise for Shelly and Samantha, a Halloween dress of Samantha’s own! She was already wearing a cute autumny dress, as was Shelly, but she changed into her brand new one for our get together:
After our playtime, we made a fancy dinner. Then Shelly’s partner showed up and we all ate together before playing Mario Party. It was a really fun evening and I can’t wait to see Shelly and Ben again! 😊
This morning I woke up to the most wonderful surprise! 🥺 After our morning cuddles, Christopher told me to go check the door for a package. This was waiting outside for me! I can’t stop looking at it! 😭🌈✨🍪
Of the sets that appeal to my special interests this topped the list… I would have been so bummed to miss it, but I was fully resigned to that fact because I did not expect new sets for a while. I can’t wait to put this together with Christopher on another date night! 🥰
🎀 Marzi 🎀
During the recent effort to remove stuff out of storage and donate what we do not use, I came across my little Marzi. Marzi is my only “true” doll. I do not often post about her because I know that, unlike my teddies and dinos, many people find dolls creepy. 😔
So I had to make the decision, either display her properly or donate her no matter how much I love her, because it is a pity to keep such a beautiful, high-end dolly in a bin. I could not bear to part with her, so today I gave her a little TLC!
Her beautiful long hair was clean but a little frizzy so, following online advice, I combed it perfectly, wet it, combed it again, conditioned it, and combed it again.
I read I should let the conditioner dry hard before rinsing, so I did that. She was very patient!
I really love Marzi as much as my teddies… I wish people didn’t hate dolls so much or find them so creepy but I know it is nothing personal. 😅 I just love most toys though.
Soufflé kept her company and took selfies with her, I think he might have been flirting though. 😎
After I rinsed most of the conditioner off Marzi’s hair, Soufflé helped to comb it.
Here’s the end result! These two photos are very similar, but I wanted to properly show the ribbon on Marzi’s hair.
I love how poseable she is. She looks so cute with her little hands behind her back.
Marzi had actually been on display in my library for a long time. But when our partner moved in, I gave up my library (a very small sacrifice for the reward). A ton of my things got moved or donated, but Marzi went into semi-permanent storage. I’m really happy to have her out again.
This is my Gotz doll, Marzi. She’s just a little bigger than your average AG doll, and the only doll I have (I don’t count dolls of licensed characters). As is often the case with my toy companions, she is named after a favorite food of mine, in this case, marzipan. 🙈
I’ve had Marzi for a couple of years now, and wanted her for so long before I could have her, that at the time, Tacky (takinoue on FA) even drew me getting her in the mail (though I couldn’t have her and wouldn’t for some time):
You can tell this is older because it’s from way before I switched to my current fursona. 😉
When I did get Marzi, she was a little dream of a doll. Ball jointed and just gorgeous, especially for a play-doll. I got her a little My Little Pony dress and bow, which were cute enough on her. But then I couldn’t connect with her for some reason.
I think it’s because dolls need to be more old fashioned for me to connect with them, and Marzi’s dress made her anything but that. So, eventually, she went into storage.
Recently though, I found the perfect dress, the perfect shoes, the perfect accessories. And with it all put together, it worked! Now she sits in permanent display in my library, looking to me as though she could have escaped from any of my children’s books. She feels like a suitable companion to my bears. 💕
